Getting started

Sign in with your workshop RAM user, select Philippines (Manila), and find the three resources prepared for you: the source server, the destination RDS instance and your DTS migration task.

Your credential sheet

Your credential sheet has these values. Keep it open during the lab.

Step 1 - Sign in and select the region

  1. Open the RAM logon URL from your credential sheet in a private or incognito browser window. Sign in with your RAM user name and password. If you are asked to change the password, choose a new one and keep it safe for the rest of the event.
  2. In the console region selector, choose Philippines (Manila). Each console remembers its own region, so check the selector every time you open a different console.

Step 2 - Find the source instance

  1. Open the ECS console and go to Instances & Images > Instances.
  2. Search for wsNN-source. Confirm it is Running and that its instance ID matches your credential sheet.
  3. Note its private IP address. In Module 2 you add it to the RDS whitelist so you can query RDS from this server.

Step 3 - Find the destination RDS instance

  1. Open the ApsaraDB RDS console and select Philippines (Manila).
  2. Search for wsNN-rds. Confirm it is Running and that its instance ID matches your credential sheet. You set it up in Module 2.

Step 4 - Find your DTS migration task

Your DTS migration instance already exists. You configure it in Module 3.

  1. Open the Data Transmission Service console.
  2. Choose Data Migration and select Philippines (Manila) in the page's region selector.
  3. Find the task named wsNN-dts-migration and check that it has the DTS instance ID from your credential sheet. It shows Not Configured.
  4. If the page asks you to authorize DTS or to create a service role, stop and ask your facilitator. Do not click the authorization button.
Other participants' resources

You can see every participant's servers, RDS instances and DTS tasks, but you can change only your own. Always check the wsNN name and the ID from your credential sheet before you act.
